Came from out of town to check this place out. It's cheap for a reason. Carts are old and worn out. Tee boxes are infested with weeds. Greens are rolled rather than properly mowed, which made them ridiculously slow. Fairways are dry and hard. Cart paths need completely redone. No ball washers and minimal yardage markers. Brief interaction with the crotchety old owner and his son with an equally "glowing" personality was the icing on the cake. Talked to a couple of regular local golfers and they said this matched their reputation. Wonderful lady at the counter should be the only one allowed to interact with public. They want to sell this for about $3mil????? They'll be lucky to get half that. Good luck, morons.

A friend invited me to play there and look at what they had for sale. Absolutely beautiful. Go play there. Very few golf courses left this nice.

Went out there about 2 weeks ago, so it was mid August. The staff were very friendly, I have no complaints in that area. I do have several issues with the course: 1) It is a first come first served basis, they don't do tee times. 2) No credit card's accepted. Only cash. They have an ATM on site. 3) Fairways are in very poor conditions. They are so dry and the grass is very patchy that it makes the ball run forever (like hitting a cart path) since the ground is basically almost as hard as pavement. Even setting up a tee poses a challenge. 4)The greens were OK, but they are quite small. They are the only green areas you'll see on the course, the rest is dried up. 5) The layout of the course is what I found entertaining. Its has lot's of hill's making you have to think carefully how to approach your next shot. I honestly think they can improve in maintaining the course in better shape. It's sad to play it in the 50th anniversary and seeing it in poor condition.

Haven’t played Shady Oaks in about 30 years. I like the changes, and the expanded course. Staff is very friendly, and made you feel extremely welcome. Thanks for a wonderful day of play.
