The park’s well-maintained trails are ideal for a relaxing hike, and the serene lake is great for kayaking and paddle boating. For those who love fishing, the lake provides a quiet and scenic spot to cast a line. The amenities, including the option to rent kayaks and other equipment, make it easy to enjoy a variety of activities.

Beautiful place, mostly friendly and helpful staff. Campsites are nice and have water spouts, grills and a fire pit. There is one shared bathroom but no shower. You also get a fishing day pass (you still need a NC fishing license) I have camped there several times in tent and cabins and had very different experiences each time. I was just turned away and had to sleep in my car after being refused a tent site for getting there too late (but still before closing ) and was told they do not allow you to rent after 6pm or on the same day...which I have done both several times before. That young boy was the only not friendly staff I've encountered. When I asked to rent, he just said no. I had to ask why and he seemed annoyed with me but did answer. The cabins are nice and equipped with a microwave and mini fridge. They also have ceiling fans. The entire lake, park and campground is very well kept by staff. You also get a nice size bundle of wood for a small fee.

If you have a reactive dog I would advise not bringing them to this park. The entrance by the soccer field is very claustrophobic. Also, if you want to get around the lake or go towards any area that may have trails, you will be very close to other people. If you have a reactive dog this may not be ideal. I had checked photos and descriptions and reviews beforehand and had thought this may be a good park to take our reactive dog to as I thought it would be spacious. It was not super busy on Sunday afternoon. However, I know now I will not be taking my dog here again. There are two areas that are very spacious, however, the journey to get there was super stressful.

Beautiful place to spend a weekend. Cabins are wonderful and affordable. Plenty of places to fish on both lakes.

Great place to come to. Right by my house. I always drive my scooter there with my small doggie (Shitzu). I also recently rented a cabin there and loved it. Felt like a whole different city I was at!
