Went for the new NCT section that connects NCMC to Brubaker Rd (road section picks up). BIG issue is that people use the trail head for their own personal off leash dog park and the park staff allows it. A staff pickup (green paint, emmet County logo, orange Flasher on top) pulled up, watched and pulled away. No less than 4 cars with 7 dogs pulled up, ran their put of control dogs and left in the 40 min we were there. Most ran up to my car which has my leashed dogs in it, and jumped up to the windows, ran up to by dogs on their leashes, didn't recall. Some owners just weren't paying attention at all to their dogs. If you want to bring any person or pet to this park which has no off leash areas, you're going to be run up on by big out of control dogs or attacked. As I was writing this 2 more cars with 4 more dogs arrived. Nct section: Bridge is cool, but thy trail runs thru the disc golf course so watch your head, and the section past the fields is over run, and it's mosquito infested any time above freezing (yes - even in late fall/ snow on the ground). The issue is that a newly blazed trail shouldn't be over run immediately, which it was last year when it opened and how it is now. Not really walkable.

By far my favorite disc golf course near Boyne City. It's challenging, fun and the layout is great. Clean, well maintained park. Plenty of parking.

Great well kept park. Lots of walking trails. Disc golf is great. (Could use new baskets) Lots of people walking dogs off leash. That doesn't bother me but the mounds of dog poop everywhere kind of sucks.

A pretty good place to go when you need some down time or to escape from life.

This is a rating of the disc golf course. First, bring extra discs or leave extra time to find them. There is a lot of dense brush on the course. If you like hills, keep moving -- there's nothing to see here. Because most of the tees are blind shots to the basket and the hole maps are unreliable, expect to have to walk the hole if you are unfamiliar with the course. Another thing to note is that there are few indicators as to the location of the next tee. The direction is provided on the hole map of each tee, but if you forget to look (or just forget what you saw), expect to do some wandering. There are often as many as three possibilities. Some of the holes cross each other so tightly that it is easy to aim for the wrong basket if you are unsure. While wandering, we ended up at the wrong tee more than once. This course is 5 minutes from my home and it's free, so I still play it once in a while. If I had to travel much further, I don't think it would be worth the trip.
