I think this is the best course this close to Vancouver without going over the river. Long fairways to let you try for distance, picturesque basket placement in stands of huge Douglas firs. Very well maintained course and nice draining teepads. Plenty of shade throughout the course on sunny days.

If you consider yourself a beginner and don’t have a decent grasp of release angle control, I would not recommend playing here alone. Glenwood is your course. If you really want to play here, play carefully and bring a friend or two to spot you. I used to hate this course because I wasn’t good enough to keep the disc on the fairway most of the time. I’ve since come to appreciate this course the more my technique has improved. I’m still not great (my best solo round with no mulligans is +8), but this course has helped me grow as a player for sure. A couple criticisms, given out of love (and hope that someone from the county reads these): First, I really wish they would use the basket position indicator holes on the tee signs. It’s not really needed for some holes, but for others it can be hard to tell either where you’re aiming or how far you should be throwing (especially 3 as it’s completely blind, and 16 is tough to spot as well). UDisc isn’t always up-to-date either, though I’m not sure who’s in charge of that. It’s just nice to know the distance right from the get-go so you never have to guess or check UDisc. Second, the mandos on this course feel pretty haphazard to be honest. I like a good mando here and there, but the ones here are pretty annoying, maybe excluding 4. That might just be coming from my lack of skill, but I’ve also heard better players than I have similar feelings about 7 and 11. Third, the fairways are generally super tight and the rough is ROUGH. I’ve come away from searching for discs with everything from itchy legs to a full-blown allergy attack, though my allergies are pretty bad so I’m definitely an outlier. I 100% understand the importance of leaving native grass intact for the area’s ecosystem, but I really wish they’d move the mow lines back just a couple feet across most of the course. That would still leave plenty of tall grass while making the fairways slightly more beginner-friendly. With all of that out of the way… A tough course for sure, but a great one nonetheless. Overall, a beautiful area with a good mix of wooded and open fairways. Seems like a lot of thought went into the design, even if a few decisions here and there could be questionable. No course is perfect. A practice basket was recently added right by Hole 1, which is a really thoughtful addition by the county. Good baskets, alt positions are changed at good intervals, and fairway maintenance is generally solid. A must-play course if you’re in the area.
