Vallarta-Ast Disc Golf Course

This course is a must play if you are in the area. The course has 27 well kept and maintained fairways as it should be because it is pay to play here. There are PRO and AM pads which are easily identified at each tee pad by the signage that shows a general fairway layout with distances to each of the possible pin positions. All pads are made up of concrete and are of decent length for the run up. There are only a few holes that have any sort of drastic elevation between tee pad and pin placement. Otherwise, the course is fairly flat. The baskets are in good shape and the course is very clean of garbage and vandalism. People who pay to play here generally care enough to not make a mess of the course and respect the game. There are a few technical holes with the majority of them being grip it and rip it. The course is also friendly for beginners when it comes to the wide open fairways. It is hard to lose a disc here unless you really don’t pay attention to your shot. Overall the layout is perfect as you start by the parking lot and end by the parking lot whether you are playing the first 18 and/or the back 9. Every tee has a sign but the baskets do not have any signage leading you to the next tee. I’ve played this course enough to know now where to go but for first timer players it might be slightly challenging on a few holes. Use UDisc to navigate the course when needed. The course does get busy depending on time of week and day but generally there are few back ups at any of the holes and most people are courteous enough to let faster paced players play through. It took less than 90 minutes for 4 players of decent skills to play a round. If you are short of time, the last 9 holes can be skipped as they are open fairways and the least interesting to me. I prefer to play two rounds of the first 18 holes and skip the back 9. Every summer, I make the a few treks from Milwaukee to play this course and a few other courses in the area such has Elver Park DGC and Hiestand Park DGC, Even though Vallarta-Ast DGC at Token Creek is reason enough to drive that far. If half stars were possible, I’d give this course 4.5+. The only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is the back 9 holes.

Beautiful 27 hole course. Can start on the front 18 or skip right to the back 9 if it's busy. Good mixture of woods and open layouts. Pay to play but worth it. There is a kiosk on site that is very easy to use and faster than paying online. My favorite course to play around Madison.

A gem of Dane County. A huge property with trails, camping, a number of rentable shelters, and 27 holes of disc golf not to be missed. If you play one course in the greater Madison area, make it this one.
